Does VideoOptimize upload my videos to a server?
No. All video processing happens entirely in your web browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device and are never stored on any server.
How does VideoOptimize maintain video quality while reducing file size?
VideoOptimize calculates an appropriate bitrate from your target size in megabytes, then encodes with H.264 or H.265 so the output matches the size you chose while preserving as much visual detail as possible.
Can I compress a 2 GB video to 50 MB?
Yes, depending on video length and resolution. Very aggressive compression may require slight resolution adjustment. Keep original resolution when you want maximum clarity, or allow smart scaling for extreme size reductions.
What video formats are supported?
VideoOptimize supports MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, and MKV input files. Output is optimized MP4 with H.264 or H.265 video and AAC audio.
Is VideoOptimize free to use?
Yes. VideoOptimize is free. There are no accounts, subscriptions, or usage fees. Encoding uses your device CPU and memory.
Why is compression slow on my device?
Video encoding is CPU-intensive. Longer clips, higher resolutions, and quality presets take more time. Progress shows percentage complete and estimated time remaining so you can follow each step.
Is my data safe and private?
